  The Texas Medical Jurisprudence Exam
  • Who?:  Physicians desiring a Texas medical license.

  • What?: Pearson VUE administers a 50 questions online exam. All applicants are required to pass the Texas Medical Jurisprudence Examination (JP) in three attempts with a score of 75 or better.

  • When?: You may schedule the JP exam once you have filed an application for licensure (forms and fees) and have received a scheduling permit from the board staff. Pearson VUE may be contacted at www.pearsonvue.com/texasmedicalboard or at 888-300-6228 to schedule.

  • Where?: At testing locations throughout the United States.

  • Why?: Physicians in the state of Texas are required to pass the jurisprudence exam in order to protect the citizens of Texas by establishing that newly licensed physicians have demonstrated competent knowledge of law and Board rules related to the practice of medicine.
